User Agreement.

By using Anthracite, you agree to these terms. They cover what you can do with the app, how subscriptions work, the AI chat service, and the limits of our responsibility. Read them in full before subscribing.

The agreement, in brief

We grant you a personal license to use Anthracite. You pay a subscription for Plus or Pro features. Anthracite is a wellness tool, not a medical device. Disputes are governed by Dominican Republic law.

Who this is between

This agreement is between you, the individual using the app, and Anthracite (operated by Luis de la Cruz from the Dominican Republic). References to "we", "us", and "our" refer to Anthracite. References to "you" refer to the person accepting these terms.

What you can do with the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Anthracite on devices you own or control, for non-commercial personal use. Nothing in this agreement transfers ownership of the software, the d-engine, or the Anthracite brand to you.

You agree not to

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app except to the minimum extent permitted by applicable law.
  • Resell, sublicense, rent, lease, or redistribute Anthracite.
  • Bypass paid features, circumvent licensing checks, or share your account with people who have not paid.
  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose.

Subscriptions

Anthracite has two tiers:

  • Free: Three logs per day across all streams, within-stream patterns, Apple Health sync, local-only mode, free barcode scanning.
  • Anthracite Premium: $15/month or $89/year. All four streams, every integration, cross-stream correlations, full pattern library, weekly recap, and exports.

Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal. Cancel anytime from App Store > your account > Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's refund policy.

If we change Plus or Pro pricing, the new price applies to new subscribers and renewals after the change. If you stay continuously subscribed, you keep the price you started at.

Free trial

We offer a 14-day free trial for Plus. The trial converts to a paid subscription automatically unless cancelled before the trial ends. Apple may require a payment method to start the trial. No credit card is required for the free tier.

AI Chat (Ludwik)

Anthracite includes an AI assistant called Ludwik, accessed via a Supabase Edge Function and an AI model. Usage of Ludwik is subject to these additional terms:

  • Ludwik is provided as-is. Responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or hallucinated. Do not rely on Ludwik for medical, financial, or legal advice.
  • You control which categories of your logged data Ludwik can access via a per-category consent system in Settings. You can revoke consent at any time.
  • We may impose rate limits or usage caps on AI chat to ensure fair access for all users.
  • Chat messages are stored on our servers so you can review your conversation history. They are deleted when you delete your account.
  • Your prompts and consented data are sent to the AI provider for processing. The provider does not use your data to train their models.
  • Do not use Ludwik to generate harmful, illegal, or abusive content. We reserve the right to suspend access for violations.

Not a medical device

Anthracite is a wellness tool. It computes mathematical relationships between things you log. It is not a medical device, a clinical diagnostic, or a substitute for advice from a qualified health professional. Do not use it to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. If a pattern raises concern, talk to a clinician.

This warning applies equally to the correlations engine and to Ludwik. Neither acts as a doctor, therapist, or healthcare provider.

If you have a history of disordered eating

Anthracite shows unfiltered numbers. No softening, no streaks, no gamification. For people with a history of restrictive tracking, obsessive measurement, or disordered eating, this format may reinforce rigid thinking. We say this explicitly during setup. If in doubt, consult your therapist or clinician before using the app.

Third-party integrations

Anthracite integrates with Apple Health, Strava, Garmin, MyFitnessPal, YNAB, Monarch, Copilot, and Cronometer. These integrations are provided by the respective third parties and are subject to their terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or performance of third-party services.

Your data, your responsibility

Your data is stored on your device by default. You are responsible for keeping a backup (iCloud backup is the simplest option). If you enable cloud sync, data is backed up to Supabase. We are not responsible for data loss caused by lost or damaged devices, deleting the app with cloud sync disabled, or actions you take on your device.

Data export and deletion

You can export your data from Settings in JSON, CSV, Markdown, HTML, or Apple Health format at any time. Deleting the app removes all local data. Deleting your account (Settings > Account > Delete account) removes all cloud-synced data and your authentication record.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Anthracite is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to Anthracite is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Service availability

Anthracite is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uptime or availability. Cloud sync, AI chat, and food/exercise search require internet connectivity and depend on third-party services (Supabase, Cloudflare, and the AI model provider). We are not liable for downtime or service interruptions caused by these providers.

Termination

You may stop using Anthracite at any time by deleting the app. If you cancel your subscription, you keep access until the end of the current billing period; after that, paid features revert to free-tier limits.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach this agreement (e.g., circumventing paid features, reverse engineering, unlawful use). Where reasonable, we will give notice and an opportunity to cure first.

Changes to these terms

We may update this agreement. Material changes will be communicated in-app at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

Governing law and disputes

This agreement is governed by the laws of the Dominican Republic, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by direct discussion will be brought in the competent courts of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Nothing in this clause limits any non-waivable consumer-protection rights you may have under the laws of the country where you ordinarily reside.
